Our Story
Albertine Medical Healing Centre has been seeing patients since July 18th, 2022. In that short time, its growth has been exponential as it continues to expand in pursuit of becoming the leading hospital in the Kakumiro region. Before Albertine Hospital—now home to one of the strongest medical infrastructures in Western Uganda—there was a small clinic in Kisiita called Doctor's Medical Services. It was staffed by a newly married doctor and nurse with their one-year-old son and a vision to serve more patients in the region.

A mere four-person family team operated out of a modest storefront for two years before eventually securing the funds to purchase 3.5 acres of land on the outskirts of Kisiita.
The first structure to be constructed on this land was the hospital itself. Today, the facility includes three inpatient ward rooms, a labor and delivery suite, an operating theatre, a dental room, a pharmacy, a nurses’ station, an ultrasound room that also serves as Dr. Hillary’s office, an X-ray room, a laboratory, and an emergency department. The hospital’s construction was partially funded by the World Outreach Fund, with support from Jim Gash and Ashley Lahey.

The next phase of construction, the staff living quarters, followed rapidly. This included a home for Dr. Hillary and his family, as well as on-site apartments for doctors, nurses, midwives, and support staff to ensure 24/7 availability for patient care.
One year later in 2023, responding to an overwhelming number of patients, the NICU and Pediatric Ward were fundraised and constructed in a small second building north of the hospital.
At the end of that same year, with the generous support of Tyler Kretz, funding was provided to construct the Tyler Guest House. This facility accommodates up to 15 guests and now serves visiting volunteers, physicians, nurses, and professionals from other countries who come to learn, collaborate, and contribute to the hospital’s mission of education, growth, and positive change in the community.
From the very beginning, Dr. Hillary has approached each phase of construction with intentionality and long-term vision. The ten-year goal for Albertine Medical Healing Centre is to fully develop the remaining land into a comprehensive nursing boarding school, transforming AHMC into a teaching hospital that trains and equips nurses to serve throughout Uganda.
